The University of Sheffield, in association with Severn Trent Water (STW) are recruiting a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate to help implement an exciting new technology for efficient management of urban drainage networks. This technology seeks to mitigate urban flooding and reduce pollution by real time monitoring and accurately controlling storage within the network.
We are looking for a well-motivated individual, with a good technical background and experience in the management and modelling of urban drainage systems. You will collaborate with STW and university researchers to implement this technology, evaluate its performance and help us understand how well it works in practice. Together we will develop and build installation strategies for widespread deployment. There will be significant opportunities for personal development, both as part of the KTP program and within the University. You will join one of the largest and successful urban water research groups in the UK and gain direct experience with one of the UK’s largest water companies. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
You should have a BEng/MEng, 1st or 2.1 degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline. You should also have experience in using UK standard urban drainage modelling design software. For example, Infoworks and/or SWMM. Additionally, you should have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role offers an exciting challenge for the right candidate to play a key role in an early stage business opportunity, with potential for significant impact on the operation of urban drainage systems throughout the UK.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
